About The Position

The Pre Surgery Assistant provides pre-surgery services by coordinating patient testing, giving instructions, and maintaining medical records. The role also supports pre-surgery care by obtaining blood and urine specimens and performing clerical functions. The position is based at Adventist Health Castle in Kailua.

Requirements

• High school education, GED, or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor per Adventist Health policy.

Nice To Haves

• Associate’s or technical degree, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Experience in electrocardiogram (EKG).
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor per Adventist Health policy.
• Phlebotomy Certification.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient testing, instruction, and record keeping with the Pre-surgery Orientation team.
• Obtain blood specimens through venipuncture or capillary punctures.
• Obtain urine specimens and ensure their delivery.
• Assist with answering phones, filing, and faxing.
• Enter patient information from computer systems.
• Maintain and clean supplies needed for laboratory procedures and electrocardiograms (ECGs).
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
