About The Position

The Pre-Admission Teaching Registered Nurse (PAT RN) is responsible for conducting pre-admission assessments for patients scheduled for medical procedures or surgeries. This role involves gathering comprehensive information about the patient's medical history, educating them on their upcoming care, and ensuring they understand the procedure, potential risks, alternatives, and postoperative requirements. The PAT RN collaborates closely with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to coordinate pre-admission education and care.

Requirements

  • Current, unrestricted licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Colorado OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-admission assessments for patients scheduled for medical procedures or surgeries.
  • Gather information about the patient's past and present medical conditions.
  • Educate patients about their upcoming medical care and post-operative care instructions.
  • Ensure that the patient fully understands the planned surgical procedure, potential risks and complications, alternative treatment options, and postoperative care requirements.
  • Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare team members to coordinate pre-admission education and care.
