About The Position

The Pre-Admission Teaching Registered Nurse (PAT RN) is a part-time position responsible for conducting pre-admission assessments for patients scheduled for medical procedures or surgeries. This role involves gathering comprehensive patient information, educating patients on their upcoming care and post-operative instructions, and ensuring patient understanding of the procedure, risks, alternatives, and recovery requirements. The PAT RN will collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to coordinate pre-admission education and care.

Requirements

  • Current, unrestricted licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Colorado OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-admission assessments for patients scheduled for medical procedures or surgeries.
  • Gather information about the patient's past and present medical conditions.
  • Educate patients about their upcoming medical care and post-operative care instructions.
  • Ensure that the patient fully understands the planned surgical procedure, potential risks and complications, alternative treatment options, and postoperative care requirements.
  • Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare team members to coordinate pre-admission education and care.
