About The Position
PRN (as needed). Organizes pre-operative charts according to hospital policy and physicians' orders, interviews with the patients, communicates with anesthesia any findings and assists with coordination of surgical scheduling to enhance efficiency.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current NC license as a Registered Nurse
- Current BLS certification
- At least three (3) years of recent perioperative or five (5) years of Med-Surg experience
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience as a Discharge Planning Nurse or Utilization Review Nurse preferred
Responsibilities
- Oversees intake to include an initial physical assessment and interview the patient to obtain their medical history
- Organize pre-operative chart according to hospital policy and physicians’ orders for tests before surgery
- Educate the patients on how to prepare for surgery, what to expect in surgery and their post-surgical care plan
