About The Position

Plainfield United Methodist Church is seeking a Praise and Worship Leader to join their ministry team. This individual will collaborate with pastors and the worship team to develop worship services and teams that guide the congregation in experiencing God's greatness through Jesus Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit. The primary objective of this role is to cultivate vibrant congregational worship, with a strong emphasis on singing. The church is looking for a person who is both called and gifted by God for this ministry.

Requirements

  • A genuine commitment to Christ and the Church.
  • A warm, caring personality and demonstrate a willingness to know and love the families of Plainfield UMC.
  • Organizational skills: self-starter, detail-oriented, multi-tasking, team player but ability to work independently, can delegate, high-energy, enthusiastic, and creative.
  • Experienced in leadership.
  • Ability to be extremely adaptable and flexible.
  • Must possess interpersonal skills to handle all types of personalities of all ages (children and adults).
  • Musical ability includes both vocal and instrumental.
  • Safe Sanctuaries training with background check required.

Nice To Haves

  • A/V systems knowledge (Video, PowerPoint & Sound) preferred.
  • Experience with musical performing and leading preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan weekly Sunday worship services.
  • Choose congregational hymns and songs that engage the congregation and support the reading and preaching of God’s word as well as anthems for Worship Band.
  • Model and lead heartfelt worship in an invitational style that draws people in, encourages participation, and points people to Jesus.
  • Lead and collaborate with other members of the Worship Band and other musicians.
  • Lead weekly rehearsals that serve a dual purpose: Preparation for Sunday and Cultivation of Christ-centered community.
  • Build on traditions and have a vision for where God might be calling the congregation and musicians to grow in new expressions of worship.
  • Lead congregational worship.
  • Track and report copyright information.
  • Communicate with church office staff regarding weekly plans and PowerPoint review.
  • Ensure the sanctuary is prepared and A/V components are set up and operational on Sunday mornings.
  • Schedule Summer Special Music.
