About The Position

The Traditional Worship Pastor provides vision, spiritual leadership, and musical direction for the traditional worship ministry at Wooddale Church’s Eden Prairie campus, including shepherding and conducting the church’s Choir and Orchestra. The pastor cultivates a culture of worship that values excellence, equips people to use their gifts, and leads the congregation in worship. The role partners closely with the Senior Pastor and Executive Pastor of Weekend Experience, serves on the Weekend Experience Team, and collaborates with the Modern Worship Director to cultivate a unified culture of worship. The position also serves as a member of Wooddale’s pastoral staff, providing congregational engagement and care, on-call responsibilities, and funerals and weddings as requested. The typical schedule includes weekday hours, Thursday evening choir practices, and Sunday morning responsibilities, with additional evening, weekend, and extended hours as events require. Occasional work from other campuses is needed.

Requirements

Active and growing faith in Jesus, with demonstrated character and calling to vocational ministry.
Subscribe to and affirm the Statement of Faith and Covenant of Wooddale Church.
Be a regular participant in public worship at Wooddale Church.
Become or remain a member in good standing of Wooddale Church.
Proven leadership in traditional worship, including strong choral and orchestral conducting skills, service planning, and knowledge of sacred music and hymnody.
Specific gifting in congregational worship leadership.
Collaborative leadership, excellent relational and communication skills, and the ability to develop volunteers and professional musicians.
Master’s degree in music, theology, ministry, or a related field.

Responsibilities

Provide vision and direction for traditional worship and service planning, partnering with the Executive Pastor of Weekend Experience, Senior Pastor, and Modern Worship Director to create Biblical, excellent, and God-honoring services.
Prayerfully plan the order of service for the weekly Traditional service in alignment with the Executive Pastor of Weekend Experience and the Senior Pastor.
Champion a worship culture built on thoughtful preparation, strong musicianship, and intentional leadership that honors God and supports Wooddale’s mission.
Shepherd and lead the volunteer choir musically and spiritually through prayer, care, discipleship, and musical development; recruit and develop singers and volunteer leadership teams.
Build and sustain a broad roster of skilled orchestral musicians through recruitment, intentional relationships, and ongoing development; lead the orchestra in weekend and holiday services.
Serve on the Weekend Experience Team and partner with the Modern Worship Director and Production team to advance a unified vision for worship and contribute to shared services and church-wide ministry efforts.
Plan and execute the annual Christmas at Wooddale Concerts featuring the choir, orchestra, and special guests to reach the community with the gospel.
Steward the Traditional Worship Budget in alignment with ministry priorities and goals.
Prepare, plan, and execute the biannual choir tour in alignment with Wooddale Church’s mission and values.
Serve as a member of Wooddale’s pastoral staff, providing congregational engagement and care, on-call responsibilities, and funerals and weddings as requested.
