About The Position

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Oneida/Huntsville is seeking a part-time Practical Nursing Adjunct Instructor. This role offers an experienced nurse the chance to share their expertise and mentor future practical nurses. The instructor is responsible for delivering quality education, fostering a positive learning environment, and evaluating students in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings. This adjunct position involves fewer than 30 hours per week, with variable days and hours based on program and student needs. Travel to clinical sites and other TCAT Oneida/Huntsville campuses may be necessary. The Practical Nursing Program is approved by the Tennessee Board of Nursing, and graduates are prepared to provide basic patient care under the supervision of RNs and physicians in various healthcare settings.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school with an active license in Tennessee as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing required.
  • Three (3) years’ clinical nursing experience in a hospital and/or long-term care facility.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification (American Heart Association).
  • Ability to meet all clinical site requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Prior teaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teach and supervise nursing students in classroom and clinical settings.
  • Evaluate and advise students.
  • Maintain and complete required reports.
  • Participate in the development of the program.
  • Follow current, approved course syllabi and deliver instruction aligned with program competencies.
  • Support positive, professional relationships with assigned clinical sites and meet their requirements for student supervision.
  • Assist with student recruitment and promotion of the program within the community as requested.
  • Communicate professionally, tactfully, and courteously with students, colleagues, clinical partners, and the general public.
  • Conduct all activities in accordance with FERPA, applicable laws, TBR policies, and COE accreditation standards.
  • Remain current in the healthcare field and in instructional methods, and attend required in-service and professional development activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor and/or administration.

Benefits

  • Pay rate of $30.00 per hour.
