Practical Nursing Adjunct Instructor - Union County
About The Position
The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Knoxville is accepting applications for the Practical Nursing Adjunct Instructor position to work in the evening program at the TCAT Knoxville – Union County Campus. The purpose of this position is to provide quality instruction for student learning and to maintain a positive learning environment in the classroom. The major emphasis will be placed on teaching and evaluating students in the classroom, laboratories, and clinical. This is a part-time adjunct position working fewer than 30 hours per week, with instruction delivered in the evenings. Days, hours, and instructional assignments are scheduled based on program and student needs and may vary by term. Travel to clinical sites and other TCAT Knoxville campuses may be required. PRACTICAL NURSING PROGRAM The Practical Nursing Program is approved by the Tennessee Board of Nursing. Graduates will obtain a diploma in Practical Nursing and may then be eligible to take the National Council Licensing Exam for Practical Nursing (NCLEX-PN), used to obtain nursing licensure in Tennessee. Practical Nursing is entry-level nursing. Graduates are prepared with the background and skills to give knowledgeable, basic nursing care to patients with varying degrees of physical needs. Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) work under the supervision of registered nurses and doctors. Positions are available in hospitals, long-term care facilities, physicians’ offices, home health agencies, and various other healthcare settings.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school with an active license in Tennessee as a Registered Nurse (RN); minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience as an RN within the last five (5) years.
- Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication and computer skills.
- Evidence of ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple tasks with attention to detail and accuracy.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Prior teaching experience.
Responsibilities
- Teach and supervise nursing students in classroom and clinical settings.
- Evaluate and advise students.
- Maintain and complete required reports.
- Participate in the development of the program.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor and/or administration.
- Follow current, approved course syllabi and deliver instruction aligned with program competencies.
- Support positive, professional relationships with assigned clinical sites and meet their requirements for student supervision.
- Assist with student recruitment and promotion of the program within the community as requested.
- Communicate professionally, tactfully, and courteously with students, colleagues, clinical partners, and the general public.
- Conduct all activities in accordance with FERPA, applicable laws, TBR policies, and COE accreditation standards.
- Remain current in the healthcare field and in instructional methods, and attend required in-service and professional development activities.
