About The Position

Seeking.com is looking for a PR Specialist to join their in-house PR and Communications team, reporting to the Senior PR Manager. This role involves actively pitching journalists, drafting press releases, managing a member casting book, and potentially serving as a spokesperson. The position offers significant responsibility and the opportunity to work closely with the Senior PR Manager on various aspects of public relations, including top-tier pitching, executive visibility, agency coordination, trend-jacking, awards, and member casting. It's designed for an ambitious individual aiming for a Senior PR Manager role within two to three years through hands-on experience.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in PR (agency or in-house), journalism, or communications.
  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related field, or equivalent professional track record.
  • Demonstrated track record contributing to or personally securing media coverage (regional, trade, or national outlets).
  • Strong writing and editing skills with a portfolio of work.
  • AI fluency, including experience with tools like ChatGPT, Claude, or Perplexity for research, drafting, media list building, and coverage analysis.
  • Working knowledge of Muck Rack, Cision, Meltwater, or equivalent, plus Qwoted/HARO, plus Jira/Asana/Monday, plus AP style.
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills.
  • Willingness and ability to participate in interviews and substitute as a spokesperson.
  • Comfort working remotely on a small, fast-moving team.

  • Experience at a top consumer or lifestyle PR agency (e.g., Edelman, BerlinRosen, Weber Shandwick, Ketchum, M Booth, Ogilvy).
  • Newsroom experience as a reporter or junior editor.
  • Existing relationships with dating, relationships, lifestyle, business, or consumer tech beat reporters.
  • Experience with member, customer, or talent casting for media stories.
  • Experience with influencer coordination or modern earned-and-paid integration.
  • Comfort with reputation work for brands that carry public-perception baggage.

Responsibilities

  • Draft press releases, media alerts, pitch emails, op-eds, Q&As, fact sheets, executive bios, and briefing books.
  • Pitch journalists, editors, podcast bookers, producers, bloggers, and influencers directly on assigned beats.
  • Build and grow personal media relationships across dating, lifestyle, business, consumer tech, and culture beats.
  • Respond to inbound media requests and route information across the company.
  • Identify and act on PR opportunities through platforms like Qwoted and HARO.
  • Contribute to trend-hijacking by proposing news-cycle insertion opportunities with draft pitches.
  • Edit and proofread own work and peers' work to AP-style standards.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the member casting book, including recruitment, vetting, briefing, and scheduling.
  • Manage NDAs, consent forms, and post-interview follow-ups for member interviewees.
  • Ensure the casting book is tagged, searchable, and current.
  • Be available to participate in interviews and serve as a spokesperson for Seeking.com when needed.
  • Substitute for the Senior PR Manager or Co-CEOs when they are unavailable or when a different perspective is beneficial.
  • Maintain personal media-readiness, including current talking points and media training.
  • Coordinate with the Senior PR Manager and legal on spokesperson appearances with reputational sensitivity.
  • Serve as the day-to-day operational liaison with outside agency partners in the UK and US.
  • Run agency status calls, track deliverables, and follow up on open items.
  • Quality-control agency-drafted materials.
  • Share approved messaging, campaign updates, and brand guidelines with agency partners.
  • Surface agency performance issues to the Senior PR Manager.
  • Help build the pipeline of opportunities for Co-CEO visibility (podcasts, interviews, speaking engagements).
  • Draft briefing materials, narrative arcs, and message tracks for executive appearances.
  • Research relevant awards and prepare submissions.
  • Coordinate stage and panel opportunities at conferences.
  • Monitor news, newsletters, X, and competitor PR daily.
  • Maintain a calendar of recurring cultural moments and pre-build pitches.
  • Track competitor PR activity and identify opportunities.
  • Maintain media lists, pitch calendars, journalist contact databases, and CRM tracking.
  • Maintain the PR asset library (imagery, boilerplates, messaging, etc.).
  • Monitor daily media coverage using tools like Muck Rack, Cision, Meltwater, and Google Alerts.
  • Compile weekly coverage summaries and contribute to monthly PR reports.
  • Maintain SOPs and process documentation for recurring workflows.
  • Help maintain crisis communication resources and contact lists.
