About The Position

This job opportunity is for an POWERED SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC, position description D0324000, within the AASF_1 of the New Jersey National Guard. This vacancy announcement is a Title 32, Excepted Service position. The primary purpose of this position is to accomplish maintenance on electronically controlled powered support equipment containing highly complex digital devices and integrated circuits.

Requirements

• Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement.
• This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard.
• Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership.
• Military Grades : E-3 to E-6 Applicant(s) (Enlisted) who are over grade must clearly state, in their resumes, their intentions to willingly take a reduction in grade
• Participation in direct deposit is mandatory
• May be required to successfully complete a probationary period
• Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation
• Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service
• Appointments may require the selected candidate to be assigned to a military unit compatible with the full-time Military Technician (Dual Status) position.
• Experience or training which demonstrates the knowledge of mechanical maintenance work; ability to read and use technical manuals, illustrations, diagrams and schematics, and skill in the use of equipment and hand tools used in troubleshooting, testing and repairing equipment.
• Must have 18 months of experience or training removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing parts, components, and accessories.
• Experience which provided working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to powered support equipment and systems; and skill to replace, fit, install, and make adjustments.
• Experience which provided working knowledge of the makeup and operation of the various individual systems maintained and their interrelationships.
• Experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for the accurate interpretation of numerous operating instructions and test procedures to troubleshoot and repair a variety of highly complex pieces of powered support equipment
• Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, servicing, repair, and adjustments on complex rotary diesel engines
• Perform intermediate-level maintenance on powered support equipment and non-powered AGE
• Perform maintenance data collection and prepares other required forms
• Participate and assists in conducting the necessary safety programs
• Performs other duties as assigned.
