2027 Power Systems Engineering Graduate Intern

The Aerospace Corporation•El Segundo, CA
•$32 - $38•Onsite

About The Position

The Aerospace Corporation is hiring a graduate-level Power Systems Engineering Intern for the Analog and Power Systems Department within the Electronics Engineering Subdivision. The intern will provide technical support and apply academic skills to create satellite energy-balance and/or launch-vehicle energy-depletion analysis models under the guidance of experienced engineers. The role includes learning about spacecraft power-bus subsystems and satellite launch and initialization, using or developing system-level modeling tools, and gaining exposure to power-electronics modeling, simulation, and laboratory testing. The intern will also learn how other spacecraft subsystems—including thermal control, attitude control, flight mechanics, and communications—contribute to vehicle-level assessments, and will prepare clear, concise reports documenting their work. Training and mentorship will be provided. Duties may change or be reassigned as needed. The position is full-time and on-site at the company’s El Segundo, California facility. Interns must be available for at least 10 weeks outside the university term and return to a full-time master’s or Ph.D. program after the internship.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled full-time in an accredited college or university master's or Ph.D. program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Available to work full-time for at least 10 weeks outside the university term and able to return to a master's or Ph.D. program full-time after the internship.
  • Bachelor's degree completed by the internship start date.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Completed coursework and/or fundamental knowledge of power systems.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a clearance.
