About The Position

Allen Control Systems (ACS) is hiring a Systems Engineering Intern for Summer 2027. The paid internship is based on-site in Austin, Texas, and lasts approximately 10–12 weeks. Interns work alongside engineers developing and deploying ACS systems, with responsibilities and projects depending on the team's needs the following summer.

The intern may help translate high-level mission requirements for Bullfrog into clear, testable specifications; support systems integration across mechanical, electrical, software, and controls disciplines; plan verification and support testing; and perform engineering analysis such as modeling, simulation, or margin and budget analysis. The role offers direct work with engineers building Bullfrog, mentorship from engineers with defense-systems experience, and ownership of substantive engineering problems.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Coursework or project experience in requirements definition, verification planning, or systems integration; senior design projects count.
• Comfort with engineering analysis, such as modeling, simulation, or data analysis, to support technical decisions.
• Structured thinking and curiosity about how interfaces and assumptions between subsystems can cause downstream problems.

Responsibilities

• Translate high-level mission requirements for Bullfrog into clear, testable specifications and help define how to verify them.
• Support systems integration across mechanical, electrical, software, and controls disciplines, tracing how subsystem requirements affect other subsystems.
• Help design verification approaches and support testing; review results to determine whether requirements have been satisfied.
• Conduct engineering analysis, including modeling, simulation, or margin and budget analysis, to inform requirements or trade-offs.
