About The Position

Steampunk is seeking a Power BI Data Visualization Engineer to join their team. This role involves collaborating with a large team of Steampunk and client personnel to identify data sources, tools, and mission challenges. The primary goal is to create decision-supporting insights and information by leveraging team and client data to provide meaningful representations that enable quicker and better decision-making. The ideal candidate is a technologist with excellent communication and customer service skills, and a passion for data and problem-solving, going beyond just a "Data Visualization Engineer" title.

Requirements

  • Ability to hold a position of public trust with the US government.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or other related discipline.
  • 10 years of experience in the data science field, including mathematics/statistics/programming, modeling data, and machine learning with a multitude of data sets (health/law enforcement/drug data preferred).
  • 1 year of leadership experience, such as functioning as a team lead, lead analyst, mentor, etc., in a data science field.
  • Ability to lead or participate in business sessions to identify and document analytic use cases.
  • Ability to be a self-starter, take ownership of opportunities, work independently, and manage simultaneous projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain advanced concepts to audiences of varying levels using simple terms.

Nice To Haves

  • A graduate degree in Mathematics or Statistics is preferred.
  • Current DEA or Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Be a Subject Matter Expert for a large contract supporting a major federal agency, responsible for creating visually appealing and operationally impactful dashboards and reports that translate client data into actionable insights.
  • Utilize expert knowledge of data visualization tools to deliver information enabling client users to quickly understand data, ask better questions, and take action.
  • Design, develop, and deliver analytics solutions with consideration for functionality, data, security, integration, infrastructure, and performance.
  • Collaborate with clients and stakeholders.
  • Help define enterprise data and technology needs to support business intelligence and analytics.
  • Facilitate meetings with diverse and sometimes conflicting points of view.
  • Support an Agile software development lifecycle.
  • Contribute to the growth of the Data Exploitation Practice.
