Poultry Vaccination Technician
About The Position
The Poultry Vaccination Technician supports farm operations as part of the vaccination crew, with primary responsibility for the care and welfare of birds. The role involves vaccinations, bird moves, male selection, grading, and cleaning and disinfecting equipment to help ensure bio-security. All work must prioritize safety, bio-security, and animal welfare. The technician works with day-old chicks and live poultry in poultry-house environments. Duties include collecting birds for moving, weighing, and vaccinations; collecting blood samples; and banding, tagging, or removing tags from birds. The role requires following animal-care, animal-welfare, and bio-security standards and procedures, working with cleaning chemicals, and performing essential duties safely and efficiently as trained.
Requirements
- Ability to work with live animals and in poultry-house environments.
- Ability to work with chemicals such as detergents and disinfectants.
- Ability to work around farm-related smells or odors and loud or noisy environments.
- Must follow animal-care, animal-welfare, and bio-security policies and procedures.
- Must perform essential duties safely and efficiently as trained.
