Requirements

  • Ph.D. in neuroscience or related disciplines.
  • Highly self-motivated to learn new technologies and achieve scientific goals.
  • Demonstrated professional experience in measuring, analyzing, and publishing scientific manuscripts on the systematics, evolution, biogeography, and paleoecology of fossil and living species of equids with the full range of analytical methods described above.
  • Ability to work with museum and university curators in securing measurements and professional digital images of extant and fossil horses.
  • Ability to integrate work with the NSF-sponsored FuTRES research program is mandatory.

Nice To Haves

  • Work experience in electrophysiology is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of duties as needed for the NSF-funded research in the lab.
  • Assist the principal investigator (PI) in training research assistants, graduate students, and rotational students in all phases of the PI's investigation.
  • Conduct a wide variety of research data collection and analysis, leading to the submission of manuscripts to peer-reviewed publishers of the lab’s research results.
  • Collect and analyze data; maintain and organize research data in a computer, report and present analytical findings to the PI, and at scientific meetings.
  • Write abstracts and manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications.
  • Assist the PI in preparing progress reports, presentations, and meetings as required by the project.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
