About The Position

The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Pennsylvania State University is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar to conduct fundamental research in the areas of experimental ceramic and energy conversion materials research. This position requires extensive experience in the areas of energy conversion materials synthesis and device fabrication/testing. These experiences will be evaluated based upon prior research experience and peer-reviewed high impact factor journal publications. Prior research experience in materials characterization, testbed development, etc. will be beneficial. Priorities will be given to the candidates who have experience in various fabrication techniques such as tape casting, additive manufacturing etc. Further, the candidate should have experience with microstructure analysis via high-resolution microscopies. The candidate will be actively collaborating with multiple academic and industry team members and thus good communication skills are desired. The candidate is expected to participate in the development of project reports and proposals, and thus good technical writing skills are highly desired. The final candidate will work on fabrication and characterization of various functional ceramics and energy conversion materials.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate in Engineering, Material Science, Physics or related fields.
  • Extensive experience in the areas of energy conversion materials synthesis and device fabrication/testing.
  • Prior research experience and peer-reviewed high impact factor journal publications.
  • Hands-on experience in various materials design and synthesis.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good technical writing skills.
