About The Position
The Department of Materials Science and Engineering, in the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences is seeking a postdoctoral scholar. This is a term position; length of the term will be discussed during the interview process. Continuation past the term length discussed will be based on university need, performance, and/or availability of funding. This is funded for one year from the date of hire with possibility of being renewed based on mutual agreement.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering, or Physics, or other related fields.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in engineering or physical sciences backgrounds
- At least 5 years of related experience in computational materials research during Ph.D. and prior postdoctoral research is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Develop phase-field models and computer codes of mesoscale structure evolution.
- Study the physics of structural, ferroelectric, electronic, and piezoelectric responses of mesoscale domain structures.
- Assist writing proposals to funding agencies and Penn State seed programs.
- Co-supervise graduate students and undergrad students.
- Prepare manuscripts for publications and research reports to sponsors.
