About The Position
The Postdoctoral Scholar will lead and support research involving perishable plant products and packaging. The position is responsible for setting up experiments involving perishables in non-MAP, MAP, and active packaging; developing and validating active materials; and conducting gas analysis using gas chromatography and volatile analysis and quantification using GC/mass spectrometry. The scholar will also perform quality analyses of perishable plant products. The role includes working with graduate students and research scholars to support sensory evaluations, microbiological studies, and general laboratory upkeep. The scholar will perform statistical analyses or interpret statistical results, write reports and publications, and may support proposal writing. The scholar will lead their own projects while also contributing to ongoing projects led by other team members. The position reports directly to Dr. Almenar.
Requirements
- Earned PhD in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a similar field.
- Experience using MAP and working with active packaging.
- Experience setting up and running experiments.
