The Voice and Speech Informatics (VSI) Lab in the School of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Central Florida seeks a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with a strong engineering and computational background. The position is based at UCF’s Main Campus in Orlando, Florida, with an anticipated start date of April 2027. The scholar will primarily develop and apply computational methods to analyze high-speed laryngeal videoendoscopy recordings, with opportunities to contribute to projects involving acoustic, physiological, and wearable-sensor data. Research will use computer vision, machine learning, deep learning, and multimodal data analysis, supporting NIH-funded research on vocal fold physiology and laryngeal imaging. The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary environment at the intersection of engineering, artificial intelligence, and clinical science. The VSI Lab develops computational methods combining machine learning, computer vision, signal processing, and multimodal data analysis to study voice production, vocal physiology, and vocal health. The lab analyzes laryngeal imaging, aerodynamic, electroglottographic, acoustic, physiological, and ambulatory monitoring data and collaborates with investigators across the Communication Technologies Research Collaborative, with access to diverse datasets, advanced instrumentation, and high-performance computing resources. The position offers opportunities to develop methods, publish research, mentor students, and contribute to ongoing projects and research initiatives. This is a Contract & Grants-funded, fixed-term appointment anticipated to last at least two years. Continued appointment and possible extension, up to a total of four years, depend on satisfactory performance and available funding. The expected salary is $57,000. The work schedule varies. Applicants must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer; H-1B sponsorship, transfers, and employment-based visa processing for people sponsored by another employer are unavailable. UCF expects employees to reside in Florida when employment begins unless the posting explicitly states otherwise.
