About The Position

The Voice and Speech Informatics (VSI) Lab in the School of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Central Florida seeks a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with a strong engineering and computational background. The position is based at UCF’s Main Campus in Orlando, Florida, with an anticipated start date of April 2027. The scholar will primarily develop and apply computational methods to analyze high-speed laryngeal videoendoscopy recordings, with opportunities to work on acoustic, physiological, and wearable-sensor data. Research will use computer vision, machine learning, deep learning, and multimodal data analysis in support of NIH-funded research on vocal fold physiology and laryngeal imaging. The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary research environment and have opportunities to develop computational methods, publish research, mentor students, and contribute to ongoing NIH-funded projects. The VSI Lab develops methods combining machine learning, computer vision, signal processing, and multimodal analysis to study voice production, vocal physiology, and vocal health. Its research uses laryngeal imaging, aerodynamic, electroglottographic, acoustic, physiological, and ambulatory monitoring data. The lab collaborates with investigators across the Communication Technologies Research Collaborative (CTRC), with access to diverse datasets, advanced instrumentation, and high-performance computing resources.
