About The Position

The Postdoctoral Scholar supports laboratory operations and performs procedures to conduct and complete research. The role requires advanced neuroscientific skills and the ability to train and supervise laboratory members in standard operating procedures. The scholar works independently on research projects and prepares data for dissemination through posters, presentations, and publications. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Requirements

• Doctoral degree from an accredited institution.
• Appropriate experience and training within a selected area of specialization.
• Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Postdoctoral Fellow.

Nice To Haves

• Doctoral degree in neurobiology, biology, chemistry, or another related field.
• Research experience in alcohol use disorder using animal models in conjunction with contemporary neuroscientific techniques.

Responsibilities

• Train animals in behavioral paradigms and conduct small-animal surgeries.
• Prepare drugs and chemicals; perform intracranial and intravenous infusion of pharmacological and/or viral compounds.
• Perform small-animal perfusions, histology, immunohistochemistry, gene-expression assays, and molecular-biological assays.
• Train laboratory staff in procedures and standard operating procedures.
• Independently perform complex investigative procedures and develop and implement research protocols.
• Process and analyze data, construct data figures, and assist with preparing journal manuscripts and conference presentations.
• Supervise undergraduate, graduate, and medical students as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
