The Biomedical Imaging and Instrumentation Lab in Boston College’s Department of Engineering is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Fellow for an NIH R01-funded, multi-site study developing AI-enabled portable ultrasound methods to assess body composition and growth in preterm infants. The longitudinal study follows infants from birth through 24 months. The fellow will lead analytic and machine learning work, developing predictive models that combine ultrasound imaging with clinical and maternal data. The role involves collaboration with investigators at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital, Boston College’s Connell School of Nursing, and Boston College biostatisticians. The fellow will be co-mentored by Prof. Bryan Ranger and Dr. Yuan Yuan. The fellow will take primary responsibility for analytic strategy and model development, contribute to the project’s evolving research aims, and mentor graduate and undergraduate researchers. The role offers opportunities to lead research and publish, present at conferences, contribute to proposals and grant management, and receive conference travel support. This is a full-time, one-year temporary appointment, renewable for additional years depending on performance and funding availability. The position is onsite, 35 hours per week, with a salary range of $67,000–$76,962 based on experience. The start date is as soon as possible, with flexibility for the right candidate.
