About The Position

UTHealth Houston’s Neurology Department is hiring for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join their team of professionals. Our research focuses on understanding the molecular basis of neurodegenerative diseases associated with misfolding and accumulation of proteins implicated in Alzheimer’s and Parkinson's diseases. The candidate will work on the characterization of the αSyn interactome to identify factors implicated in αSyn seeding in PD brains through proteomic approaches. The study will also involve various cellular and animal models of Parkinson’s disease.

Requirements

Doctoral/Terminal Degree
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
Possess interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate and communicate with individuals at all levels.
Have strong written and oral communication skills.
Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.

Responsibilities

Assists faculty researchers and other collaborators, or may act independently, in planning and designing research experiments.
Operates specialized scientific equipment.
Data collection, processing, and analysis.
Engaged in fieldwork and writing of scientific publications and reports.
Presentation of project results to internal and external parties.
May be responsible for training staff, graduate assistants, or student employees.
Plans and conducts experiments, analyzes data, and prepares publications describing results.
Assists in training and mentoring of lab personnel, including graduate students and other trainees.
Reads and evaluates literature.
Performs other duties as assigned.
