The Research Postdoctoral Fellow is a research trainee focused on enhancing and developing research competencies in laboratory or clinical research settings. This role may involve assisting faculty in research, potentially serving in various laboratory roles depending on the scientific specialty and project needs. The fellow will participate in the design and conduct of experiments, requiring technical knowledge in areas such as molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, genetics, physiology, animal science, epidemiology, health services research, clinical research, trial design, and human subjects protection. Based on experience, the fellow may train staff and students, exercise general supervision, and assist with data management and analysis. Responsibilities also include assisting the principal investigator with research projects, grant applications, publications, managing resource allocations, and overseeing day-to-day activities like purchasing, laboratory animals, radioactivity, biosafety, and human subjects enrollment and protection. The individual may also guide or lead the work of peers and support staff.
