About The Position

The Alverson Lab at the University of Arkansas invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in diatom evolution. The research combines handling and culturing microbial eukaryotes in the lab, growth experiments, phylogenomics, and analysis of genomic and transcriptomic datasets. The computational analyses require proficiency in Bash and a programming language, such as Python or R. Applicants should have strong written and oral communication skills, evidenced in part through a record of peer-reviewed publications. This is a two-year appointment, renewable annually based on availability of funding and continued satisfactory level of performance in the role. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Requirements

• PhD in biology, oceanography, or related field from an accredited institution of higher education
• Experience programming in Bash, R, and/or Python
• Previous research experience in phylogenetics
• Record of scientific accomplishments demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications
• Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
