Postdoctoral Fellow in Biological Sciences
About The Position
The Alverson Lab at the University of Arkansas invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in diatom evolution. The research combines handling and culturing microbial eukaryotes in the lab, growth experiments, phylogenomics, and analysis of genomic and transcriptomic datasets. This is a two-year appointment, renewable annually based on availability of funding and continued satisfactory level of performance in the role. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Requirements
- PhD in biology, oceanography, or related field from an accredited institution of higher education
- Experience programming in Bash, R, and/or Python
- Previous research experience in phylogenetics
- Record of scientific accomplishments demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency in Bash and a programming language, such as Python or R
- Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
