About The Position

The University of Arkansas System is seeking an Instructor for Biological Sciences at Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas (PCCUA). PCCUA is a multi-campus, two-year college serving Eastern Arkansas with academic, occupational/technical, and continuing education programs. This position is part of the Arts and Sciences department and involves teaching a full complement of biological science courses, primarily face-to-face but also including online options. The role also includes assisting with recruiting and retention efforts, as well as campus and college activities, projects, and committees to support the college's mission.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in biology or closely related field.
  • Experience and ability to conduct coursework online, utilize course delivery platforms such as Blackboard, ability to conduct virtual/online labs as well and integrate technology into instruction to meet the needs of students from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Must meet HLC faculty qualifications.
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Five (5) or more years of teaching experience, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Experience with Blackboard and Zoom.
  • Ability to work in a team setting.

Responsibilities

  • Teach full compliment of biological science courses according to ACTS and course catalog, including but not limited to Anatomy and Physiology, General Biology, Botany, Zoology, Environmental Science and Microbiology.
  • Courses primarily will be delivered face-to-face, but will also include online options.
  • Assist with recruiting and retention efforts as well as campus and college activities/projects/committees to further the mission of the College.
