About The Position
The von Hoegen and Lau Research Groups at The Ohio State University are seeking a Post Doctoral Scholar to join their team. This position, based at The Physics Research Building, will focus on ultrafast spectroscopy of quantum materials, including THz microscopy, and research on 2D materials and their heterostructures. The Post Doctoral Scholar will play a key role in operating a new THz microscope for investigating two-dimensional quantum materials and devices, as well as conducting low-temperature cryogenic measurements of their electronic characteristics. This is a term position for one year, renewable based on performance and funding availability.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in physics, materials science or related fields by the time of appointment.
- Demonstrated record of accomplishments in 2D materials research.
- Experience in preparing and measuring 2D heterostructure devices.
- Experience in performing and leading experimental campaigns.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with twisted (Moire) materials heterostructures.
- Experience with operating ultra low temperature cryogenics (~ mK).
- Experience with cleanroom work.
- Experience developing a Python-based laboratory control and data-acquisition infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Take a leading role in the operation of a novel THz microscope for the investigation of two-dimensional quantum materials and devices.
- Conduct low-temperature cryogenic measurements of electronic characteristics of two-dimensional quantum materials and devices.
- Contribute to research on ultrafast spectroscopy of quantum materials, THz microscopy, and 2D materials and their heterostructures.
