About The Position

The Ohio State University is actively seeking a motivated and talented Postdoctoral Scholar to join our research team in the Neurology Department. As a Postdoctoral Scholar at one of the nation's leading research institutions, you will have the unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge research projects aimed at advancing the field. The focus of this position is to investigate molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative diseases, with a focus on Aging, Alzheimer's disease and ALS. The lab uses computational approaches to analyze genomic, transcriptomic, and clinical data from blood and brain tissue samples to identify disease biomarkers and cell-type-specific changes. The successful candidate will join a collaborative research environment within the Department of Neurology and will have access to interdisciplinary research networks across OSU's Wexner Medical Center.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree (MD or PhD) in biomedical sciences, bioinformatics, computational biology, or equivalent
  • Experience in computational biology or bioinformatics research required
  • Proficiency in Python and/or R required
  • Experience with genomic and/or transcriptomic data analysis required
  • Successful candidates will have a proven ability to collaborate effectively within diverse teams while also showcasing independent research capabilities and a strong trajectory towards research productivity, including peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations
  • All applicants must adhere to strict ethical research principles and maintain a commitment to diversity and inclusion in all aspects of their work
  • Requires successful completion of a background check

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with tools such as scanpy, Seurat, or similar platforms preferred

Responsibilities

  • Designing and conducting computational analyses of genomic, transcriptomic, and clinical data
  • Developing and implementing bioinformatics pipelines
  • Analyzing and interpreting data
  • Preparing manuscripts
  • Presenting findings at scientific conferences
  • Collaborating with other lab members and external partners
  • Mentoring undergraduate students as appropriate
