The Kebriaei Laboratory in the College of Pharmacy at The Ohio State University is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Scholar to join a newly funded NIH R01 project focused on the cefazolin inoculum effect (CzIE) in methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA). This multi-center study will investigate the prevalence, molecular mechanisms, and clinical impact of CzIE across ten geographically diverse medical centers in the United States. The overarching goal is to improve understanding of antibiotic treatment failure and advance precision antimicrobial therapy for invasive MSSA infections. The successful candidate will lead and contribute to a variety of translational research activities, including antimicrobial susceptibility testing, inoculum effect characterization, molecular microbiology studies, β-lactamase expression analyses, biofilm assays, whole-genome sequencing, and integration of microbiological and clinical data. The position offers unique opportunities to collaborate with investigators across multiple institutions and work at the intersection of clinical microbiology, infectious diseases, and antimicrobial pharmacology.
