About The Position

The Dotter Department of Interventional Radiology, part of the OHSU School of Medicine, is seeking a Post Doctoral Scholar to serve as research faculty and lab manager for the Dotter Memorial Research Laboratory at the Dotter Institute. This role involves carrying out and facilitating educational and research projects under the supervision of the Director of Research and the Director of the Institute. Key activities include coordinating clinical and translational lab research, designing and executing protocols, organizing educational workshops using an animal model, and supporting industry and academic collaborators with translational research, device prototype testing, and educational labs. The position also requires active outreach to potential collaborators to expand lab activities, coordination of facility maintenance and updates, and interfacing with the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC).

Requirements

  • Terminal degree (MD, PhD or equivalent by experience/training)
  • Familiarity with animal care and handling, anesthesia, animal surgery, pre- and post-procedural management
  • Training and experience in scientific methods, including biostatistics and scientific protocol
  • Familiarity with percutaneous procedures, equipment and devices
  • Experience in teaching and mentorship
  • Participate in animal care, handling and procedures/surgery, including image-guided procedures
  • Development of IACUC protocols
  • Basic cell culture
  • Basic Tissue processing and histology (fixation, H&E, fluorescence microscopy, electron, microscopy)
  • Radiographic interpretation pertaining to translational studies (fluoroscopy/X-ray, CT, MRI, US)
  • Development and execution of research proposals and grants
  • M.D., Ph.D., or equivalent degree

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate clinical and translational lab research activities of the Dotter Institute
  • Design and participate in clinical and translational research projects
  • Assist in providing education in translational procedures and in clinical training activities
  • Assist in preparing lab publications, electronic media, and lectures
  • Interface with industry and academic collaborators to facilitate clinical and translational projects
  • Participate in funding applications to support research activities
  • Provide mentorship and education to undergraduate, graduate and medical students, clinical residents, and clinical and research fellows for research activities of the Dotter Institute
  • Oversight of the research facility including regulatory compliance, research personnel training and maintenance of lab equipment and inventory
