About The Position

The Post Doctoral Scholar will conduct research on conversational AI systems with an emphasis on methods for enhancing the reliability of provided information and for using synthetic data to adapt systems to users with varied characteristics. Research tasks will include designing and implementing software for testing novel algorithms and for conducting corpus-based experiments and experiments with human subjects. This term position is available for one year. The College of the Arts and Sciences Department of Linguistics is seeking a Post Doctoral Scholar. The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest college and the academic heart of the university. The College hosts 81 majors. Requirements

  • Doctoral Degree in Linguistics or Computer Science by start date.
  • Four years of experience conducting and publishing research in recognized NLP venues such as those appearing in the ACL Anthology.
  • Substantial experience working with leading deep learning frameworks for training and running language models along with using language models via APIs.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on conversational AI systems with an emphasis on methods for enhancing the reliability of provided information and for using synthetic data to adapt systems to users with varied characteristics.
  • Design and implement software for testing novel algorithms.
  • Conduct corpus-based experiments and experiments with human subjects.
  • Supervise research of graduate and undergraduate students.
  • Identify and select problems to be studied in collaboration with PI and graduate students.
  • Perform experiments.
  • Collect and analyze data.
  • Prepare research results for publication in reports, papers, journals, books, and other media.
  • Prepare seminars, talks or lectures for dissemination of knowledge, particularly the results of research undertaken.
