About The Position

Post Doctoral Scholar to join the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at The Ohio State University studying protein structure, dynamics and interactions by advanced spectroscopy, microscopy and complementary biophysical and biochemical techniques . The Post Doctoral Scholar will embark on a program of independent research with the primary goal to determine the molecular interactions that determine biological function .

Requirements

• PhD in Chemistry , Biochemistry, Biophysics or a related field by the time of hire
• Strong theoretical or practical ba ckground in nuclear magnetic resonance ( NMR ) spectroscopy and protein expression and purification
• Demonstrated experience operating and maintaining laboratory instrumentation
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Collaborative mentality towards research and mentoring
• These required and desired skills should be demonstrated through a record of peer-reviewed publications.

• Solution and solid-state NMR spectroscopy
• Electron microscopy
• Protein expression and purification

Responsibilities

• Conduct ing laboratory work centered around characterization of protein structure, dynamics and interactions
• Leading manuscript preparation for submission to peer-reviewed journals
• Mentoring undergraduate and graduate students
• Assisting with preparation of grant applications
• Ordering materials and supplies for the laboratory
