About The Position

The College of Education and Human Ecology Department of Educational Studies (Educational Administration) in partnership with the Center on Education and Training for Employment (CETE) seeks a Post-Doctoral Scholar to support and expand the growing research and development agenda with a particular emphasis on STEM teacher education, educator preparation, and workforce development initiatives designed to address the nation’s chronic teacher shortage. Reporting to Dr. Belinda Gimbert, associate professor in Educational Administration, this position is intended to strengthen the center’s capacity to examine how professional learning, and evidence-based training models can support the recruitment, preparation, retention, and ongoing development of teachers and educational leaders across diverse educational settings. The postdoctoral scholar will collaborate with other researchers and interdisciplinary partners to conduct high-impact, practice-centered research focused on strengthening teacher pipelines, improving educator preparation programs, and enhancing professional development systems through the ethical and effective integration of emerging technologies. The scholar will contribute to peer-reviewed and practitioner-oriented publications, support grant development, and participate in research projects that directly inform educational practice and policy related to teacher workforce challenges. This position provides structured mentoring and professional development experiences that prepare the scholar for future leadership roles in universities, educational agencies, nonprofit organizations, and applied research settings. In alignment with CETE’s mission, the scholar’s scope of work aligns closely with the College’s and University’s commitment to advancing innovation, and educational opportunity while supporting Ohio State’s land-grant mission of serving communities through impactful research and outreach.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in teacher education, educator preparation, educational leadership, workforce development, or related research settings.
  • Experience with professional learning initiatives, program evaluation, grant development, data analysis, or the integration of emerging technologies in educational settings is highly valued.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills, along with a commitment to advancing educational opportunity, innovation, and workforce development through research, outreach, and collaborative engagement.
  • PhD from an accredited college or university in Workforce Development, Learning Technologies, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
  • Required completion of PhD prior to start date.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of CETE’s emerging research and development agenda with a focus on teacher education and workforce development.
  • Conduct research that bridges scholarship, design, implementation, and evaluation in authentic teacher preparation, professional learning, and educational workforce settings.
  • Explore innovative approaches to strengthening teacher recruitment, preparation, retention, and ongoing professional development.
  • Develop scholarly, practice-based, and policy-oriented products that strengthen our Department’s portfolio of educator workforce and related research initiatives.
  • Gain mentored experience in applied research, program development, external funding, dissemination, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Prepare project reports and present findings to academic, practitioner, and policy audiences.
  • Provide educational sessions and professional learning opportunities for school partners, and community stakeholders.
  • Engage in national professional networks related to teacher preparation, workforce development, and educational innovation.
