About The Position

The Colorado School of Mines Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering is seeking a post-doctoral researcher to join Prof. Vladan Stevanović's group. This role involves individual research, collaboration with and mentoring of students, potential classroom involvement, and professional activities. The successful candidate will conduct research independently, contribute to publishable research, and have opportunities for career advancement through interaction with industrial and federal laboratory communities.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in physics, chemistry, materials science or related field
• Demonstrated background and experience in electronic structure methods such as density functional theory and related methods
• Motivated to work in an interdisciplinary framework
• Ability to interact closely with other team members
• Ability to work independently
• Demonstrated initiative
• Strong organizational skills
• Strong written/verbal communication skills
• Respect for project deadlines

Nice To Haves

• Programing skills (FORTRAN, Python)

Responsibilities

• Engage in research activities of Stevanović group
• Conduct one or two research projects working with a high level of independence under the supervision of Prof. Stevanović
• Perform first principles calculations in line with the project(s) requirements
• Disseminate results at project meetings and through papers and presentations at conferences
• Help advise graduate students
• Performs other duties as assigned
