About The Position

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is seeking applications for a postdoctoral research fellow to work alongside Dr. Melissa Zielinski within the UAMS NIDA T32 Addiction Research grant. This candidate will be chosen based on academic background, match between research goals and the mentor for training and career development and fit of their research plan to the goals and mission of the T32 program to train a high-impact next generation of addiction scientists. This position is housed in the Psychiatric Research Institute’s Health and Legal system (HEALS) lab. The Postdoctoral Fellow will be expected to actively participate in ongoing research projects, including human research assessments and data collection; launch new research projects; contribute in composing proposals and manuscripts; and submit grants. The incumbent will also present data in scientific conferences and meetings, attend and present in lab meetings and data clubs. The fellow will receive mentorship to create and implement their own individual career development plan. Fellows will have access to funds to attend external trainings and conferences.

Requirements

• Doctoral degree (PhD, ScD, MD, DO) in psychology or social work required.
• Pre-doctoral experience with human-subjects research and manuscript submission.
• Excellent computer skills.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office suite and statistical programs (i.e. SPSS).
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Excellent writing skills are required.
• Must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

• Demonstrated history of successful publication as first author is desired.

Responsibilities

• Conducts research as outlined with minimal supervision in funded and proposed grant applications under the direction and mentorship of the Principal Investigator or Collaborators.
• Prepares publications and presents data in written and oral presentations.
• Grant writing.
• Develops and submits intramural and extramural grant and fellowship applications.
• Attends lab meetings and other meetings as appropriate.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
