About The Position

As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, the Post Doctoral Fellow of Biological and Agricultural Engineering will conduct research directed towards contributing to cutting-edge research on the ecohydrology of grazing pastures, specifically investigating eddy fluxes and water use efficiency under varying grazing management practices. These projects include: a) investigate how different grazing management strategies impact carbon and water cycling in grassland ecosystems, b) integrate remote sensing data (e.g., NDVI, EVI, land surface temperature) with eddy flux measurements to scale up findings and develop predictive models of water use efficiency, and c) quantify water use efficiency and its temporal and spatial variability across different grazing treatments. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others. This position is located at the USDA-Agricultural Research Center, El Reno, OK.

Requirements

  • PhD. in Soil Science, Biological Engineering, Agriculture Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Remote Sensing, Ecology, Geography, or a closely related field, from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with eddy covariance datasets and ecosystem flux measurements (CO₂, latent heat, sensible heat, evapotranspiration)
  • Experience analyzing ecosystem water use efficiency or carbon-water interactions
  • Strong computational and statistical analysis background
  • Experience integrating remote sensing products (e.g., NDVI, EVI, land surface temperature) with environmental datasets
  • Experience with geospatial analysis, GIS, and large environmental datasets
  • Experience developing predictive or machine learning models for environmental systems
  • Demonstrated record of peer-reviewed publications
  • Experience collaborating with interdisciplinary research teams or federal agencies
  • Familiarity with reproducible workflows and version control systems
