Portfolio Strategist - Innovation at Scale Portfolio

Kyndryl•Rye Brook, NY

About The Position

Kyndryl Consult is the fastest-growing part of Kyndryl's business, focusing on designing, building, managing, and modernizing mission-critical technology systems. Unlike traditional consultancies, Kyndryl Consult not only advises but also builds and runs solutions, taking accountability for their success. The Consult Propositions & GTM team is responsible for developing the packaged consulting offers (propositions) that Kyndryl Consult takes to market. This involves defining the offers, setting pricing, crafting the narrative, and equipping the global consulting community to sell them. The team is being rebuilt around five capabilities, and this role is a key part of that redesign, joining at the design stage. A proposition is a comprehensive consulting offer that includes the problem it solves, evidence of its effectiveness, cost, pricing, accompanying story, and all necessary materials for a consultant to sell it. The company launches twelve to sixteen new propositions annually and refreshes existing ones quarterly across three portfolios. The Portfolio Strategist will take propositions from initial idea to a sellable offer for consultants in priority markets, managing them through a lifecycle method that includes intake criteria, stage gates, quality standards, and required toolkits. This role requires orchestrating various contributors, including subject matter experts, offering teams, marketing, go-to-market, and learning and development, under a unified brief. The Portfolio Strategist will work closely with proposition leaders who own the strategy and commercial performance, while the strategist owns the process for building, governing, and taking the proposition to market. This separation of roles ensures a consistent standard across portfolios, with influence derived from process quality and credibility rather than formal authority.

Requirements

  • Experience in offering or product strategy, product marketing, proposition development, or a consulting role that involved building and launching a repeatable offer
  • Evidence you can run a structured lifecycle or stage-gate process and hold people to it without stalling them
  • Strong written craft — you can turn a technical capability into something a client would actually want to buy
  • The ability to orchestrate senior contributors across functions with no authority over any of them
  • Comfort working to a date, with several propositions live at once
  • Enough technical fluency to hold a credible conversation with practice experts about what an offer really does
  • Familiarity with enterprise AI adoption is a strong advantage.

Nice To Haves

  • Background at a large consulting, professional services or technology services firm
  • Domain depth in the relevant portfolio — enterprise modernization for Requisition A, AI and data for Requisition B
  • Experience with commercial and pricing inputs to an offer
  • Experience with competitive positioning and win/loss analysis

Responsibilities

  • Take assigned propositions through the full lifecycle — intake, build, gate reviews, launch and refresh — on a schedule you hold
  • Build and quality-check the toolkit each proposition launches with: the client-facing narrative, qualification guidance, proof points, competitive positioning and the commercial inputs assembled with our Commercial Excellence team
  • Orchestrate the contributing teams under one brief and keep them moving to a shared date
  • Prepare gate reviews and make sure nothing advances a stage without documented sign-off
  • Run the quarterly refresh cycle for your propositions and close the loop from what we're learning in wins and losses
  • Watch your portfolio for overlap, white space and offers that should be retired, and bring recommendations to your Executive Portfolio Strategist
  • Work closely with the narrative, enablement, commercial and operations teams — you sit at the centre of all four
  • Focus on the 'Innovate at Scale' portfolio, which covers propositions built around AI, data and emerging technology, including agentic AI applied to real business workflows, and how enterprises take them from pilot to production.
