About The Position

The Porter works at Fox Run at Fulton, a professionally managed student-housing community in Poughkeepsie, New York. The role performs daily and weekly cleaning of common areas, including floors, laundry rooms, vestibules, restrooms, stairwells, community rooms, trash rooms, and offices. Other duties include cleaning building windows and common-area carpeting, maintaining cleaning-product inventory and equipment, and assisting with vacant-unit cleaning. The Porter may also help with landscaping, minor maintenance, grounds maintenance, painting, and emergency situations. The position is full-time, non-exempt, and pays $22 per hour. The regular schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; evenings and weekends may be needed. Training is provided in preventative maintenance, safety, and related areas.

Requirements

High school diploma.
Applicable work history.
Ability to stand and walk for 8 to 10 hours.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and bend, stoop, squat, reach, push, and pull.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, kneeling, lifting, carrying, and painting.
Demonstrates integrity on a personal and professional level.
Ability to solve problems involving maintenance, safety, and challenging situations.

Nice To Haves

One to two years of residential property maintenance experience.
Experience with pressure washing, basic painting, and general housekeeping.
EPA certification.
CPO certification.

Responsibilities

Vacuum common-area carpet and tile floors daily.
Touch up cleaning in laundry rooms.
Clean glass in building vestibules.
Clean common-area restrooms.
Sweep stairwells weekly.
Vacuum, sweep, and dust community rooms weekly.
Clean trash rooms and trash cans weekly.
Vacuum and dust offices weekly.
Clean building windows inside and out and clean common-area carpeting.
Maintain the inventory of cleaning products.
Maintain cleaning equipment and arrange for servicing at appropriate times.
Assist with cleaning vacant units.
Assist with landscaping, minor maintenance, grounds maintenance, painting, and emergency situations as needed.
