About The Position

IFS, a union affiliate of KBS and provider of facility services, is hiring a Porter to join its Janitorial Services Team. The role involves cleaning and maintaining building areas and fixtures, handling waste and restroom supplies, using cleaning chemicals and equipment safely, moving furniture and supplies, and reporting repair needs. The stated shift is 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.; days and nights may vary, including weekends. This is a full-time opportunity, though benefits eligibility described in the posting is for employees working 30 or more hours per week and may vary under the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Requirements

• Experience in building and warehouse cleaning work.
• Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved oral or written instructions.
• Communication skills to interact courteously with officials, staff, and the public.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and safe chemical-handling documents, generally in English and possibly in Spanish where required by the state.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, scrub, or vacuum building floors.
• Gather and empty trash.
• Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
• Clean and polish furniture and fixtures; dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
• Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using appropriate cleaners and tools.
• Follow procedures for using chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Move furniture, equipment, and supplies manually or with hand trucks.
• Notify managers about the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
• Request supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
