About The Position

The City of Bloomfield Aquatic Center is hiring an enthusiastic, responsible, and energetic Pool Shift Supervisor / Lifeguard to help provide a safe, fun, and welcoming environment for guests. The role combines lifeguarding with supervising pool operations and supporting lifeguard staff, facility activities, and events.

Compensation is $15.50 per hour for candidates without lifeguard experience and $16.50 per hour for experienced lifeguards. The seasonal position is scheduled for 20–30 hours per week, with flexible scheduling that includes evenings and weekends.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid certifications are required, or the ability to obtain them before employment.
• Must successfully complete pre-season training.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
• Must be able to swim, stand, walk, and remain active for extended periods.
• Dependable, responsible, and safety-minded.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Able to stay calm under pressure.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekends.
• Enjoys working with people of all ages.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Prior lifeguard experience qualifies for the higher hourly rate.

Responsibilities

• Supervise pool operations during assigned shifts.
• Lead and support lifeguard staff.
• Enforce pool rules and maintain vigilance to keep swimmers safe.
• Respond to emergencies and provide first aid when needed.
• Assist with facility opening and closing procedures.
• Support pool parties and special events.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming aquatic facility.
• Serve as a positive role model for guests and fellow team members.
