About The Position

Seeking a Polysomnographic Technologist Apprentice for a part-time position (24 hours biweekly) with night shifts, working 12-hour shifts. Availability for at least one shift per week, including Friday nights, is required. This role is located at the Sleep Center/Pulmonary Clinic at Baptist Health Floyd in the Southern Indiana/Louisville, Kentucky area. The apprentice will perform duties defined for a polysomnographic technologist under the direction of the Sleep Center Supervisor or a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT). The apprentice will train and perform comprehensive polysomnographic testing and analysis, including diagnostic and therapeutic services, patient care, and education. The role involves acquiring a solid knowledge base in clinical applications of polysomnographic studies, timely analysis of studies, and generation of summary reports for medical staff review. Responsibilities include assisting with polysomnographic procedures (PSG for nightshift, MSLT’s, MWT’s), equipment maintenance, cleaning, stocking, and ordering. The apprentice will also be responsible for the timely analysis of home sleep studies and generation of summary reports for interpretation, as well as scheduling and insurance pre-authorizations as needed. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • BLS for Healthcare Provider from AHA, ARC, or AHSI required.
  • Obtain Registry in Polysomnography from AASM within 2 years of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive polysomnographic testing and analysis.
  • Provide diagnostic and therapeutic services.
  • Offer patient care and education.
  • Acquire a solid knowledge base in clinical applications of polysomnographic studies.
  • Perform timely analysis of polysomnographic studies and generate concise and detailed summary reports for review by the Medical Staff for confirmation of diagnosis.
  • Assist with the performance of polysomnographic procedures, such as PSG for nightshift, MSLT’s and MWT’s.
  • Assist with equipment, cleaning, stocking, ordering and maintenance.
  • Perform timely analysis of home sleep studies and generation of summary reports for interpretation by medical staff.
  • Responsible for scheduling and insurance pre-authorizations as needed.
