About The Position

Seeking Polysomnographic Technologist Apprentice! This is a part-time position (24 hours biweekly) with night shifts, working 12-hour shifts. At least one shift per week is required, and weekend availability is needed for Friday nights. The role is located at the Baptist Health Floyd, Sleep Center/Pulmonary Clinic in the Southern Indiana/Louisville, Kentucky area. The apprentice will perform the duties defined for a polysomnographic technologist under the direction of the Sleep Center Supervisor or a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT). The Polysomnographic Technologist Apprentice (PTA) will train and perform comprehensive polysomnographic testing and analysis, including polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services, and patient care and education. The apprentice will acquire a solid knowledge base in clinical applications of polysomnographic studies. Responsibilities include the timely analysis of polysomnographic studies and generation of concise and detailed summary reports for review by the Medical Staff for confirmation of diagnosis. The apprentice will also assist with the performance of polysomnographic procedures, such as PSG for nightshift, MSLT’s and MWT’s, and assist with equipment, cleaning, stocking, and maintenance. Additionally, the PTA will be responsible as needed for the timely analysis of home sleep studies and the generation of summary reports for interpretation by medical staff, as well as scheduling and insurance pre-authorizations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • BLS for Healthcare Provider from AHA, ARC, or AHSI required.
  • Obtain Registry in Polysomnography from AASM within 2 years of hire.
