Polysomnographic Tech - Nights

Yale New Haven Health•North Haven, CT

About The Position

The polysomnographic technologist works under the direction of the supervisor and Program Manager to prepare patients and conduct overnight polysomnographic studies (PSGs). The technologist collects vital signs and other relevant information to support interpretation by the physician or polysomnographer, following established policies and procedures. The role requires vigilance in a non-stimulating environment, attention to detail, and sound judgment about when to consult the supervisor or physician regarding a patient's status. The technologist is responsible for the quality of PSG data. The position involves preparing patients and caregivers for studies, setting up and calibrating monitoring equipment, applying electrodes and recording transducers, monitoring and documenting sleep and physiological events, troubleshooting equipment, and adjusting the patient's environment to obtain required sleep/wake data. Under physician direction, the technologist initiates and titrates nasal CPAP therapy according to physician orders and established protocols.
