About The Position

The Office of the First Deputy Mayor is seeking a qualified individual to serve as the Policy Analyst for Budget, Finance, and Labor. This role involves managing budget, labor, and finance policy initiatives, conducting research on revenue and savings, preparing briefings, tracking project documents, representing the office, supporting stakeholder engagement, coordinating with intergovernmental affairs, analyzing special projects, and working closely with relevant agencies. The position reports to the Senior Advisor to the First Deputy Mayor for Budget, Labor, Finance, and CUNY.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • 2+ years of experience.
  • Ability to work independently and within a fast-paced environment, as well as thrive in a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Highly organized and able to track multiple workstreams, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Self-starter who positively contributes to a learning culture and collaborative team and is willing to perform the full range of tasks required in a dynamic and rapidly responsive organization.
  • Highly analytical and data-driven.
  • Exceptional written, oral communication, and presentation skills.
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Managing budget, labor, and finance policy initiatives day-to-day, determining key touchpoints, and keeping leadership apprised of developments and decisions needed.
  • Work in partnership with the First Deputy Mayor’s team and corresponding agencies to conduct research on revenue-raising and savings initiatives.
  • Preparing briefings for key stakeholders, such as the First Deputy Mayor, agency leadership, etc.
  • Preparing and tracking project-related documents, including project plans, presentations, meeting agendas, etc.
  • Representing the First Deputy Mayor’s Office at meetings with stakeholders, advocates, agency leadership, staff, etc.
  • Supporting engagement with budget, labor, and finance advocates, community-based organizations, and other external stakeholders to inform policy development and implementation.
  • Working closely with the Intergovernmental Affairs (IGA) team to support coordination and engagement with elected officials at the city, state, and federal levels on matters related to budget, labor, and finance.
  • Analyzing and making recommendations on special projects related to budget, labor, and finance.
  • Working closely with relevant agencies, including, but not limited to the Department of Finance, the Office of Labor Relations, the Mayor’s Office of Management and Budget, etc.
  • Reporting to the Senior Advisor to the First Deputy Mayor for Budget, Labor, Finance, and CUNY.
  • Performing additional responsibilities as required across the First Deputy Mayor’s team.
