The Georgia World Congress Center Authority is hiring a Police Recruit to join its Public Safety function. The recruit is a non-sworn civilian employee who attends a Georgia P.O.S.T.-certified police academy to learn and perform the responsibilities of an entry-level Police Officer. After graduating from the academy, the recruit completes 12 weeks of supervised field training and receives further training as a sworn Police Officer through the Field Training Officer Program. The position works under general instructions and established policies and procedures, reports to the Police Sergeant, and supports the Authority’s mission, goals, policies, and objectives. The role is based in a fast-paced, professional convention, sports, entertainment, and hospitality environment. Work may take place indoors or outdoors at facilities across the Authority’s campus and can involve crowds, noise, traffic, all weather conditions, and potentially hazardous situations. Event operations may require irregular hours, flexible scheduling, rotating shifts, and availability for evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and special events. Recruits may need to respond to changing priorities, urgent operational issues, and emergencies while remaining composed and providing professional customer service. Police recruits must maintain the physical and mental readiness needed for law enforcement duties, including patrol, emergency response, arrests, and community engagement. This includes strength, endurance, agility, stamina, alertness, and sound decision-making under stress. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Candidates under final consideration must complete a criminal history evaluation and drug screening as a condition of employment.
