Major responsibilities and duties require consistent attention and commitment to the agency’s mission and are to be performed in an effective, efficient and safe manner. KPD also has numerous collateral duty and specialty assignments, such as K9, detectives, motors, SWAT, computer forensics, firearms, and survival skills instructors.

Requirements

Must be able to obtain a valid driver license in your state of residence.
Must be a U.S. citizen within 18 months of being hired (citizenship application requires 5 years of residency).
Cannot have been convicted of a Domestic Violence Assault.
Cannot have been convicted of a felony.
Must successfully pass the NTN law enforcement Frontline National Test and submit valid test results through NTN’s website by selecting Keizer Police Department (KPD).
Must pass the Oregon Physical Agility Test (ORPAT) at the DPSST Academy to become a certified Police Officer.
Must have passing scores in reading and writing of 75% or higher, and 65% in the video portion of the NTN test.
Must be able to de-escalate situations.
Must be able to build positive community relationships.
Must have a desire to serve the Keizer community.
