About The Position

The Ohio Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) is seeking a Police Officer 2 to perform higher level police officer duties. This role involves patrolling grounds and buildings, protecting the lives of patients, employees, and visitors, and enforcing Ohio Revised Code, Administrative Rules, and Hospital Policies. The officer will also perform security and special service functions, provide assistance to the Nursing Service Department, respond to psychiatric, medical, and emergency calls, conduct investigations under the direction of the Police Lieutenant, arrest criminal violators, and perform routine administrative duties related to police work. This is an hourly position covered by the State of Ohio Unit 2 bargaining unit (union), with a pay range of 10 on the Unit 2 Pay Range Schedule. Normal working hours are VARIOUS. This position is located within our Northwest Ohio Behavioral Healthcare location, located at 930 S Detroit Ave, Toledo, OH 43614.

Requirements

• Formal education in arithmetic that includes fractions, decimals & percentages & in reading & writing English vocabulary
• Valid driver's license
• Probationary period is one year
• Possession of certificate having successfully completed approved basic peace officer training program or completion of 20 yrs. active duty as peace officer per Section 109.78 (D) of Ohio revised code for developmental disabilities & mental health facility employees
• Applicant must be able to successfully perform Ohio Peace Officer Basic Training Program (OPOTC) Fitness Testing Entry Standards for New Recruits
• Official transcripts are required for all post-secondary education, coursework, or degrees listed on the application
• Applicants must submit an official transcript before receiving a formal employment offer
• Failure to provide transcripts within five (5) business days of the request will result in disqualification from further consideration
• Transcripts printed from the institution’s website will not be accepted
• The Ohio Department of Behavioral Health reserves the right to evaluate the academic validity of the degree-granting institution
