About The Position

Southeastern Louisiana University's Police Department is seeking applicants for the position of Police Officer 1/2. This role is part of a training series, and candidates will be hired as either a Police Officer 1 or Police Officer 2 based on their qualifications. Police Officer 1 positions do not require prior experience, while Police Officer 2 positions require one year of experience in law enforcement work. Applicants must possess a valid driver's license and be able to be certified through the Southeastern Defensive Driving Course. A current Civil Service test score for the 2100-PSE-Protective Services Exam for Law Enforcement is required for consideration, unless exempted. Resumes will not be accepted in lieu of completed education and experience sections on the application.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license.
  • One year of law enforcement experience (or equivalent college credit substitution).
  • Current Civil Service test score for 2100-PSE-Protective Services Exam for Law Enforcement (unless exempted).
  • Must not have been convicted of a felony or be under indictment on a felony charge without relief from disabilities.
  • College hours or degrees must be from an accredited institution.

Nice To Haves

  • Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification.
