Requirements

  • 3 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
  • Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Generalist or Specialist) issued through LSBME
  • Capable of working under stress, must have excellent time management skills and be able to make decisions independently.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be adaptable to a fluid work environment where deadlines and priorities are constantly changing.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that the POC testing meets all regulatory requirements for standards, designing organized, well documented and thorough program providing assistance to all POC testing user sites.
  • Compiles all data into a monthly report to be reviewed by the Laboratory manager noting any deficiencies or errors.
  • Monitors POC patient results.
  • Reviews glucose meter results, troubleshoot any unusual or unexpected values.
  • Troubleshoots performance failures and initiates corrective action and/or repair.
  • Maintains glucose meter inventory and changeout.
  • Remains current on POCT instrumentation and procedures in the field.
  • Gives input into selection of instrumentation appropriate for POCT needs.
  • Identifies and implements avenues for POCT quality process improvement in collaboration with the senior management.
  • Coordinates testing education to include organizing required training and competency testing for non-laboratory staff performing POC testing.
